Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence detected 18 Chinese military aircraft and eight naval vessels operating near Taiwan from 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday local time. Fourteen of these aircraft violated Taiwan's Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ), crossing the median line and entering various zones, according to Taiwan's MND.

Taiwan responded by dispatching its aircraft, naval ships, and deploying coastal-based missile systems to monitor the PLA activities. The MND revealed these details in a post on X, stating that Taiwanese forces have been continuously monitoring the situation. Data shows that Chinese military presence has been detected 294 times in July alone.

China’s increased military activities are part of its gray zone tactics, which aim to achieve security objectives without direct, large-scale force. Beijing has been intensifying air and naval incursions into Taiwan's ADIZ, adding to a series of provocations against Taiwan, which China views as part of its territory.

Further escalating tensions, the Taiwan Coast Guard reported monitoring four China Coast Guard vessels that intruded into Taiwan-controlled waters around Kinmen County. This incident marked the first such intrusion in July and the 31st in 2024. The Taiwan's CGA quickly responded by shadowing the intruders and issuing warnings, stressing that such actions undermine maritime safety and cross-strait exchanges.
