Journalist Shot Dead in Nowshera; Pakistan Faces Another Tragic Loss

In a tragic incident, a local journalist was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Nowshera city, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Sunday, reported ARY News. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police confirmed the killing of the journalist, identified as Hasan Zaib, who was employed with a local newspaper.

Bike-borne attackers opened fire at him in the bustling market area of Akbarpura village. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, demanded a comprehensive report from senior police officials concerning the incident. CM Gandapur assured that those involved in the murder would not evade justice and would be apprehended soon, as reported by ARY News.

Such incidents are not uncommon in Pakistan. In a similar shooting in May this year, journalist Nasrullah Gadani succumbed to injuries following a gun attack in Karachi. Gadani was fired upon by unidentified assailants while commuting from his residence to the Mirpur Mathelo Press Club.

In Gadani's case, armed assailants in a car opened fire on him on Jarwar Road near Deen Shah before fleeing the scene. Local journalists noted Gadani, who worked for a Sindhi daily and shared news reports on social media, was known for his daring reporting on local feudal lords, political figures, and government officials.
