At least four terrorists were neutralized by security forces during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported ARY News. The operation was executed in Tank district on Saturday.

The military's media wing disclosed that the targeted operation in Tank district was based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists. During a fierce gunfight, four terrorists, who were implicated in multiple criminal activities including abductions, were killed.

"Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the scene," the ISPR confirmed. The local community lauded the efforts of the security forces, as stated by ISPR and reported by Dawn.

This operation comes as Pakistan encounters a rise in terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, following the termination of a ceasefire by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in November 2022. Earlier on July 16, Pakistan's security forces thwarted an attack on Bannu Cantonment in KP, killing 10 terrorists, according to ISPR.

The military's media wing reported that the assailants tried to breach Bannu Cantonment but were thwarted, resulting in them detonating an explosive-laden vehicle against the perimeter wall, as mentioned by Dawn. Security forces responded robustly, killing all attackers, though eight personnel also lost their lives.

Notably, the ISPR further indicated that the Bannu Cantonment assault was orchestrated by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, which operates from Afghan territory. (ANI)
