Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant meeting on Thursday with Nukaga Fukushiro, the Speaker of Japan's House of Representatives, along with a delegation comprising Japanese parliamentarians and business leaders. The dialogue emphasized the strong India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
The discussions highlighted pivotal areas of mutual interest, focusing on people-to-people ties and the importance of parliamentary exchanges between the two nations. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the progress on the 5 Trillion Japanese Yen investment goal set for 2022-2027, exploring ways to strengthen economic and business relations beyond this period, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
The meeting also covered cooperation in traditional manufacturing, as well as in modern sectors such as semiconductors, electric vehicles, and green energy. Emphasis was placed on the timely realization of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project. Nukaga suggested enhancing workforce training in Japanese language, culture, and work practices, underscoring the private sector's role in these initiatives. Modi assured the delegation of India's supportive business environment and regulatory reforms to foster further Japanese investment and technology collaboration.
