Vice President Kamala Harris has secured her place as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election, winning the majority of delegates' votes, the Washington Post reported on Friday. Democratic National Committee officials confirmed her nomination, marking the end of an unprecedented selection process that began when the former Democratic standard-bearer withdrew two weeks ago.

Ajay Bhutoria, Deputy National Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee, described the event as historic for the United States. 'Today marks a historic moment for our community and our nation as Vice President Kamala Harris secures the majority of delegates needed to become the Democratic nominee for President of the United States,' Bhutoria said. 'This achievement is not just a victory for Vice President Harris, but for all of us who believe in the values of freedom, justice, and opportunity for all.'

Bhutoria praised Harris for her leadership in unifying the Democratic Party and igniting enthusiasm nationwide, particularly within South Asian and AAPI communities. 'Her leadership has unified our party and sparked unprecedented enthusiasm across the country,' he added. Bhutoria called for unity and mobilization as the country heads toward the November election, emphasizing that Harris's candidacy is a powerful symbol of what can be achieved through collective effort.
