New Zealand Governor General Dame Cindy Kiro officially welcomed President Droupadi Murmu with a traditional Maori 'Powhiri' ceremony in Wellington. The President was also given a Guard of Honour, underscoring the respect and significance of her visit.

President Murmu's arrival in Wellington marks a critical state visit aimed at enhancing the bilateral relations between India and New Zealand. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the pivotal nature of the discussions ahead to further India-New Zealand partnerships.

Additionally, President Murmu's itinerary includes a meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, addressing an educational conference, and engaging with the Indian diaspora. The President's tour also features a recent stop in Fiji, where she received the highest civilian award, 'Companion of the Order of Fiji.'
