Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is preparing for a critical visit to the United States to finalize a significant agreement involving Ukraine’s rare earth minerals. The prospective deal is expected to involve an exchange of these valuable resources for USD 350 billion, military equipment, and ongoing support, according to CNN citing an unnamed Ukrainian official. The terms, tailored to augment Ukraine's security and peace, have reportedly been clarified after the removal of any unacceptable stipulations.

Despite the anticipation, the specifics of the agreement remain under wraps. A notable contention in previous discussions was a USD 500 billion demand from the Trump administration for Ukraine's rare minerals in return for earlier US aid, a condition rejected by Zelensky. However, President Trump, addressing the press from the Oval Office, indicated a potential resolution, expressing his readiness to jointly sign the deal. "USD 350 billion and lots of military equipment" were mentioned by Trump as parts of the mineral deal offerings.

Trump conveyed optimism about the negotiations, suggesting the major aspects were finalized and emphasizing future security provisions for Ukraine. He included that discussions with Russia on the matter did not face opposition, implying a broader diplomatic understanding. The US aims to secure access to Ukraine’s critical minerals as part of broader efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine, while concurrently assuring Ukraine's security against possible Russian aggression.
