On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, engaged in discussions with a delegation from the Board of Directors of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. The delegation was led by Ambassador Ivo H. Daalder, CEO of the Council and a former U.S. Ambassador to NATO, highlighting the session's diplomatic significance.

Later, the delegation engaged with India's Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh to discuss enhancing global security cooperation and strategic partnerships. The Ministry of Defence emphasized these discussions aim to reinforce international collaboration for a more secure future, dubbing this initiative 'Defence Diplomacy.'

The Chicago Council, established in 1922, is a prominent nonpartisan organization focused on global affairs, influencing policy through analysis and public opinion research. Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge extended heartfelt Mahashivratri wishes, invoking blessings for prosperity and happiness in the country.

On February 22, Rahul Gandhi also visited the Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli, advocating for modernization in railway production. He emphasized the importance of local manufacturing and innovation, urging rapid enhancements to bolster the rail sector as a key economic pillar. His remarks call for a shift from foreign reliance to a localized production system, empowering Indian engineers and technicians.
