BRICS Policy Dialogue Lays Ground for Global Cooperation

The 10th BRICS Policy Planning Dialogue in Brasilia concluded, focusing on pressing global geopolitical issues and future cooperation. Hosted by Brazil, the event paved the way for the upcoming BRICS Summit, highlighting discussions on health, trade, climate, and multilateral reforms with the expanded membership.

The 10th BRICS Policy Planning Dialogue concluded in Brasilia, offering a collaborative platform for policy planners and senior representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, as well as new BRICS members, to address crucial geopolitical and regional challenges. The Ministry of External Affairs noted in a press release that this dialogue was instrumental in setting the agenda for the forthcoming BRICS Summit.

Leading the Indian delegation was Raghuram S., Joint Secretary of Policy Planning & Research, MEA. The dialogue served to evaluate BRICS's institutional progress post-expansion, with pivotal discussions centering on global health collaboration, international trade and finance, climate change initiatives, AI governance, and reforming multilateral peace and security structures.

Brazil’s role as host underscores its commitment to guiding BRICS in tackling modern challenges and bolstering inter-member cooperation. The BRIC bloc, established after the 2006 G8 Outreach Summit, became BRICS with South Africa's inclusion in 2010. The alliance expanded further in 2024, embracing Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The 16th BRICS Summit, chaired by Russia in Kazan, emphasized continued trade and investment strategies.
