On June 21, 2025, the Central Tibetan Administration's leader, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, arrived in London to a warm welcome by Representative Tsering Yangkyi, Secretary Tenzin Kunga of the Office of Tibet, and members of the UK Tibetan community. The Central Tibetan Administration reported his arrival.
Sikyong then attended a session with Tibetan youth at the London School of Economics, emphasizing Tibet's global significance in geopolitics and environment, the Sino-Tibetan conflict, and Tibet's non-violent cultural legacy. "Tibet matters not only to Tibetans but to the entire world," he stated, citing its strategic Asian location.
He highlighted the importance of understanding Tibet's historical independence for global advocacy, encouraging youth to delve into Tibetan history to aid the Central Tibetan Administration's Middle Way Approach. Sikyong noted informal Sino-Tibetan communications, acknowledging dialogue as essential for conflict resolution with China.
The 14th Dalai Lama's commitment has elevated global recognition of the Tibetan cause, Sikyong credited. He urged continued advocacy by exiled Tibetans and cautioned against simplistic cooperation with China, advocating for strategic competition in preserving Tibetan identity and democratic principles.
