Homecoming Nears for Gaza Border Communities as Security Greenlight Shines

Tel Aviv [Israel], June 29 (ANI/TPS): Residents in the Gaza border area of Israel are permitted to return home, as the government announced no 'security impediment' on Sunday. This decision, approved via telephone referendum by the Cabinet, follows evaluations by the Israel Defense Forces and the Ministry of Defense.

The return affects twelve localities, including Be'eri, Kfar Aza, Nir Oz, and others, ending funding for temporary housing for those able to return. Reconstruction remains for certain communities like Nahal Oz and Kissufim, which require additional time before reopening.

The Tekuma administration confirmed renovations at Kerem Shalom, Re'im, and additional areas, paving the way for residents' return by July 1. While some places face delays, such as Kissufim and Be'eri, state support will include covering 90 percent of rent for those opting for temporary accommodation during further repairs.

The Families' Headquarters for the Return of the Abductees remarked on the developments, saying negotiations for the return of the remaining hostages should proceed. The government reiterated ongoing support for those not yet ready to move back, ensuring partial rent coverage while repairs continue.

The events follow the October 7 attacks by Hamas, resulting in over 1,180 deaths and significant hostages. Approximately 30 remain missing. Discussions for their return are ongoing, with authorities committed to resolving the matter.
