An Indian medical team, comprising specialists from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, returned to India after a mission in Bangladesh aimed at aiding victims of a devastating air crash. The team arrived in Bangladesh on July 23, offering aid following the tragedy at Milestone School and College, Dhaka, which claimed 33 lives.
During their stay, the team worked closely with Bangladeshi medical experts at the National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery, providing specialized advice for the treatment of victims. Indian authorities expressed satisfaction with the protocols in place and exchanged expertise dealing with critical cases. The mission underscored the strong people-to-people ties between India and Bangladesh.
The tragic incident saw an F-7 fighter jet crash into a school campus, piloted by Bangladeshi Air Force Flight Lieutenant Mohammad Towkir Islam Sagor, who perished in the accident. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and reiterated India's readiness to provide further assistance if required, including advanced treatment options in India.
