In a significant diplomatic move, US President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Saturday, claiming the discussions 'went really well.' The summit, aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, was complemented by a late-night phone call involving Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and prominent European and NATO leaders. This coalition unanimously agreed that pursuing a peace agreement, rather than a temporary ceasefire, is paramount for resolving the war.

President Trump took to Truth Social, declaring it a 'great and very successful day in Alaska.' He announced that President Zelenskyy is expected to visit Washington DC on Monday, with a potential subsequent meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin on the agenda. According to Trump, such diplomacy could save millions of lives, signaling a hopeful path forward in negotiations.

Meanwhile, Russia's economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev expressed optimism about US-Russia relations post-summit, despite acknowledged resistance. Dmitriev highlighted the substantial economic collaboration potential discussed during the Alaska talks, reinforcing the belief that strengthened ties and continued dialogue between the two nations could contribute to long-term peace and cooperation.
