The Baloch Republican Party's central spokesman, Sher Mohammad Bugti, has strongly condemned attempts to seize ancestral lands in Dera Bugti's Lanju and Saghari regions. He accused the Frontier Corps of supporting an armed group, known locally as the 'Death Squad,' allegedly receiving funding, weaponry, and drones to facilitate the takeover.
Residents have reported the Death Squad laying landmines across disputed territories, leading to multiple fatal encounters. Recent blasts claimed three civilian lives, including a woman and a young girl, and injured six others. Livestock was also killed, intensifying the hardship faced by village families, with tribal elders condemning the attacks and blaming the Frontier Corps.
Despite the gravity of the situation, neither the Frontier Corps nor government officials have issued an official statement. Villagers' previous calls for help have gone unanswered, prompting local leaders to demand immediate demining efforts, medical care for the injured, and accountability for those allegedly backing the militia.
