Celebration of a Journey: The Historic Voyage of INSV Kaundinya

The Indian Embassy in Oman celebrated the successful voyage of INSV Kaundinya, a reconstructed ancient vessel reviving India's rich maritime traditions. The voyage, conducted by an 18-member crew, including Sanjeev Sanyal, retraced cultural and trade routes, symbolizing India's 5,000-year seafaring legacy.

The Indian Embassy in Oman hosted a significant celebration for the successful journey of INSV Kaundinya, a meticulously reconstructed ancient stitched ship, mirroring India's maritime legacy. The event, attended by a vast Indian diaspora, symbolized the country's historical prowess in seafaring and trade.

Tavishi Behal, Deputy Chief of Mission, expressed her awe, stating the voyage rekindled a 5,000-year-old history, further invigorating the community's enthusiasm. The reception ceremony, a highlight, was marked by a warm welcome extended to the valiant crew by an energized Indian community in Muscat.

Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, detailed the project's origins, acknowledging inspirations from both Ajanta paintings and Omani reconstruction techniques. The ambitions were to preserve ancient maritime knowledge through the INSV Kaundinya, which sailed from Gujarat to Oman, echoing ancient trade routes.
