A member of the Lebanese Parliament, Hussein Haj Hassan, has alleged that the recent 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was orchestrated under external pressure by Iran on the United States. Hassan claims that US President Donald Trump succumbed to the influence of the Islamic Republic, compelling Israeli leadership to accept the agreement.
Hassan, who is associated with Hezbollah's Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, made these statements in parliament, as reported by Iranian state media Press TV. He cautioned against any breaches of the ceasefire, stressing the 'treacherous' nature of the adversary and the need for vigilance.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem echoed these sentiments, linking the ceasefire to Israel's military limitations. Qassem stated that the ability of the Lebanese resistance to impose a ceasefire once again demonstrated the occupying regime's failure to achieve its objectives. These developments come amid increased conflicts along the Israel-Lebanon border, following the US-Iran regional tensions.
President Trump had announced the ceasefire, which followed intensified diplomatic efforts to de-escalate hostilities. He mentioned having 'excellent conversations' with both Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, confirming their commitment to working towards a peaceful resolution.
The ceasefire, initiated at 5 p.m. EST, represents a critical step in addressing the volatile situation in West Asia, marked by significant hostilities in the area.
