French President Emmanuel Macron has appealed to the United States and Iran to work together on reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. He addressed this issue during a European leaders' summit in Armenia, stressing the importance of a coordinated approach as the best way forward, according to Al Jazeera.

Macron expressed reservations about the U.S. plan, led by President Donald Trump, for a military operation called 'Project Freedom,' aimed at ensuring safe passage for international vessels. Macron cited a lack of clarity in the mission's goals, stating that France would not participate without more transparency.

Trump's initiative comes in response to requests from multiple countries for assistance in moving ships trapped by regional tensions. Despite the military aspects of the mission, which is set to begin on Monday, Trump maintains that a diplomatic solution with Iran is still possible, indicating ongoing positive discussions, albeit with a readiness for a forceful response if necessary.
