On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei expressed concerns over the ongoing diplomatic exchanges between Tehran and Washington. Citing a pervasive atmosphere of distrust, Baghaei accused the United States of frequently altering its positions, complicating the path to mutual understanding, according to the Iranian news agency ISNA.

During his press conference, Baghaei argued that while diplomacy does not inherently rely on trust, the shifting stances of the U.S. have impeded progress. He claimed that these frequent changes create disruptions and prolong negotiations. Baghaei also pointed to Israel's role, suggesting the country actively seeks to sabotage diplomatic efforts.

Addressing speculations about additions to the negotiation agenda involving nuclear issues, the Iranian spokesperson insisted that Tehran's primary goal remains ending the conflict. He linked developments in Lebanon to broader diplomatic goals, emphasizing a ceasefire in Lebanon as crucial to any agreement with the U.S.

Baghaei further accused Israel and the U.S. of breaching ceasefire terms and stated Iran had responded to perceived American aggression. In contrast, President Donald Trump on Monday assured that Iran desires a deal beneficial to both parties. Using Truth Social, Trump criticized political opponents for undermining his efforts with continuous public commentary and urged patience in negotiations.

Trump emphasized confidence in a positive outcome, encouraging detractors from both Democratic and Republican sides to cease their criticism and allow diplomatic efforts to unfold. He conveyed optimism that diplomacy would ultimately succeed.
