In a significant leap for French military technology, the MICA NG air-to-air missile was successfully tested in a supersonic flight configuration on a Rafale fighter jet on Friday. This advancement highlights the missile's ability to confront next-generation threats, including stealth aircraft, drones, and cruise missiles.

MBDA, the missile's manufacturer, noted the successful evaluation of the missile's infrared seeker during the test. The trial, conducted at the French Defence Procurement Agency's Missile Testing Centre, confirmed the missile's capabilities in extreme conditions, enhancing France's position in air superiority.

The MICA NG missile's successful test coincides with India's plans to significantly expand its Rafale fleet, a move expected to include substantial production in India and an unprecedented level of localization for a project of this scale.
