The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has put forward Sheela Pandit as one of its candidates in the upcoming 2026 Bihar Legislative Council biennial elections, prompting her to thank the party's leadership for their confidence in her. Pandit emphasized the BJP's commitment to upliftment and widespread development.
The approval of Pandit's nomination, along with Pawan Singh, Dr. Sanjay Mayukh, and Anil Kumar Thakur, was announced by the BJP's Central Election Committee on Friday. Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (United) revealed its lineup, naming Nishant Kumar, Bharti Mehta, and Shivrani Devi Prajapati as its contenders for the prominent state elections.
The Bihar Legislative Council bye-election is slated for June 18, with key deadlines for nominations and candidate withdrawals set by the Election Commission. By-election candidates will be selected by the legislative assembly, and this process also addresses seats about to be vacated by retiring members.
