India and Slovakia have taken a significant step to strengthen their diplomatic relationship by agreeing on regular consultations to streamline consular matters. This move, formalized during discussions between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, aims to address the growing flow of students, IT professionals, and workers between the countries.

The joint statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the importance of this cooperation, given the increasing bilateral travel. A dedicated channel will be established for consular authorities to coordinate directly, ensuring efficient visa processes and migration safety. The leaders acknowledged this as a critical area of mutual interest.

This decision is part of a broader strategy to enhance mobility, marked by the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding on labour migration. PM Modi emphasized the significance of these agreements in facilitating professional and skilled worker mobility and announced upcoming plans for a social security MoU.
