Putin orders increase in size of Russian army

​Russian ​President ‌Vladimir Putin on Monday ​ordered an ‌increase in the size of the Russian ‌army to 1.55 million ‌active servicemen, according to a presidential decree.

The ⁠expansion, ​which ⁠follows a similar increase ⁠ordered in August, will put ​the size of ⁠the armed forces at ⁠2,441,630, ​of which 1,550,000 are active ⁠servicemen. The number of ⁠active servicemen ⁠increases by 15,500.
