The ankle injury that has forced Los Angeles Lakers second-year point guard Lonzo Ball to miss the past 14 games will be re-evaluated in about a week, according to multiple reports. Ball suffered the ankle sprain and bone bruise Jan. 19 when the Lakers played the Houston Rockets. The team originally anticipated he'd miss four to six weeks.

The Lakers have gone 5-9 without Ball and have slipped to a record of 30-31, three games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the final Western Conference playoff spot entering play Friday. Ball, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, has appeared in 47 games, averaging 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 30.3 minutes.
