Malaysian rescuers find body of German hiker in popular cave

Kuala Lumpur, Jul 13 (AP) Malaysian rescuers have found the body of a German hiker a day after he was reported missing during sudden flash floods in a popular national park. District fire and rescue chief Law Poh Kiong says the body of Peter Hoverkamp was discovered at a river in Deer Cave at the Mulu National Park in northern Sarawak state early Saturday.

He says the rescue team is still searching for local tour guide Roviezal Robin, who went missing with Hoverkamp on Friday. Deer Cave is one of the largest cave passages in the world and attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year.

It is one of several limestone caves at the Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hoverkamp was 66 years old. (AP) RS RS
