Britain disappointed at U.S. tariff plans: PM Johnson spokesman

Britain is disappointed by the U.S. government's plans to slap tariffs on European-made Airbus planes and duties on Scotch whiskies, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's spokesman said. The United States said it would impose tariffs as a punishment for illegal EU aircraft subsidies.

"We are disappointed that the U.S. has published this list. Resorting to tariffs is not in anyone's interest," the spokesman said. "The UK is working closely with the U.S. and EU to support a negotiated settlement to the Airbus-Boeing dispute and to avoid these tariffs from coming in to force."
