Security forces dispose huge IED consignment in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur

Security forces Sunday recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing seven kilograms in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.

The IED, laid by naxals, was packed in a steel tiffin box and concealed under a dirt track near Gorna village, about 4 kilometres from the district headquarters, an official from Kotwali police station said.

He said that the IED was recovered following a tip-off and the bomb detection and disposal squad destroyed it later. He said that naxals laid such IEDs on routes passing through dense forests to target patrolling security force teams.
