U.S. defense secretary to visit Middle East

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will travel to the Middle East including Israel, Egypt and Jordan in the coming days, the Pentagon said on Thursday.

"The Secretary is looking forward to his discussions with leaders in the region, which are intended to support and strengthen our partnerships and enhance cooperation," Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder told reporters.
