The 48th Sarvodaya Samaj Sammelan, a conference on Gandhian thoughts, has passed a resolution to participate in every struggle to "save democracy, Constitution and secularism". The three-day conference at Sevagram Ashram in Maharashtra's Wardha concluded on Thursday. Nearly 1,200 delegates from 22 states, including 400 Sarvodaya and Gandhian activists from Maharashtra, participated in the event.

Sarvodaya Samaj Sammelan is held every two years where believers of Gandhian principle who have dedicated their lives to people at grassroots level exchange thoughts. Chinmay Mishra, president of Sarvodaya Mandal, read out the resolution and said the conference was determined to take part in every struggle to save democracy, Constitution and secularism. The resolution was based on Mahatma Gandhi's message that "real swaraj (self-government) will come not by the acquisition of authority by a few but by the acquisition of the capacity by all to resist authority when abused", he said.
