Cops injured after two men open fire at police checkpoint in Rajasthan's Baran

Two policemen sustained bullet injuries after two men allegedly opened fire at the police checkpoint at Seeswali circle in Baran district, officials said on Wednesday, adding that the two attackers have been arrested.
The two men, one of them a history-sheeter, encountered the police team after fleeing from Ranpur area in Kota district earlier, where they had allegedly shot and injured two other men over a business deal, police said.
Two cops of Mangrole Police Station -- Rahul and Vijay -- sustained bullet injuries, Baran SP Raj Kumar Choudhary said.
A history-sheeter from Kota, Kalu Bhadak, and Satyanarayan alias Hariom opened fire with country made pistols from an SUV at the police team deployed at the police checkpoint, the SP said. The injured cops were referred to a Kota hospital after primary treatment at a local hospital, he said, adding that they were both out of danger. Bhadak and Satyanarayan were later nabbed by the police and the two were booked under relevant sections of IPC, including Section 307 (attempt to murder) and further investigation into the matter was underway, the SP added. Bhemraj and Ramchandra sustained injuries in the leg and are undergoing treatment in a hospital, he said.
Barricades were erected and cops deployed outside Mangrole Police Station after the Kota Police control room raised an alert regarding the attackers who were on the run and had passed through Itawa, Sultanpur and Ayana and Mangrole on their SUV, police said.
On noticing the police teams, Bhadak and Satyanarayan started firing at the police but hit a tractor-trolley used as a barricade. The police team also fired back at the attackers and later the duo was caught, DSP Harshraj said.
