Massive Hybrid Cannabis Bust in Ahmedabad: Police and Customs Recover Rs 1.12 Crore Worth Drugs

In a significant crackdown, the police and Customs department have seized hybrid cannabis worth Rs 1.12 crore from courier packages in Gujarat's Ahmedabad city, an official revealed on Saturday.

The operation was a result of a coordinated effort between the Ahmedabad city crime branch and the customs department. According to a release by the crime branch, the narcotics were being moved by peddlers who utilized the dark web and various social media platforms to transport drugs across borders, concealing them in everyday items such as lunch boxes, toys, baby care products, and electronics.

Following a tip-off, a joint team intercepted multiple parcels containing 3.75 kg of high-grade synthetic/hybrid cannabis valued at Rs 1.12 crore in the international markets. The seizure led to the registration of a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Notably, the addresses and phone numbers on the packages were falsified to evade detection, as stated by police officials.
