Major Ganja Bust in Maharashtra: Rs 2.2 Crore Seized

The contraband, weighing 883 kg, was being transported from Odisha disguised as poultry manure. An offence has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In a significant crackdown, customs officials in Maharashtra's Solapur district have seized ganja worth Rs 2.2 crore from a truck and arrested one individual, an official stated on Monday.

Acting promptly on a tip-off, authorities intercepted the vehicle on May 30 and uncovered 883 kg of the illicit substance, which was clandestinely being transported from Odisha under the guise of poultry manure, according to Pune Customs Commissioner Yashodhan Wanage.

The truck's illegal cargo was intended for distribution in the Solapur region. 'We have taken one person into custody in connection with the seizure, and an offence has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,' the official confirmed.
