In Andhra Pradesh, poll-related enforcement supervised by the Election Commission resulted in 11,249 seizure FIRs. Valuables worth Rs 483 crore were confiscated, with intense poll violence leading to two deaths and numerous injuries. High-profile incidents, including EVM smashing and agent kidnappings, were addressed promptly by officials.

In a sweeping enforcement move across Andhra Pradesh, the Election Commission documented a staggering 11,249 seizure FIRs, according to Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena, during a detailed press briefing on Monday at the Secretariat.

The extensive seizures, from January 1 to June 2, included cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, and other freebies amounting to Rs 483 crore. The high-cost seizures come alongside a grim tally of poll-related violence, including two fatalities and 912 injuries, with over one crore properties impacted.

The election turmoil was marked by notorious incidents, such as the vandalism of an EVM by YSRCP MLA P Ramakrishna Reddy, the kidnapping of TDP polling agents, and further EVM damages. While an interim protection from arrest was granted to Reddy by the Andhra Pradesh High Court due to his candidacy, the swift police response ensured the safety and return of kidnapped agents.
