A Noida businessman, Rajesh Dagar, has been allegedly defrauded of Rs 45 lakh in a fake land deal, officials disclosed on Friday. According to Dagar's complaint, the accused showcased fraudulent documents to sell 15 bighas of land in Noida.
The complainant was approached last year by Ashwani Chaudhary, who posed as an investor interested in purchasing Dagar's land in Mindkola. Chaudhary, along with associates, convinced Dagar about a profitable land deal in Noida.
Dagar paid Rs 5 lakh as token money and later an additional Rs 40 lakh cash and a Rs 55 lakh cheque. Realizing the scam, Dagar discovered Kavindra Bhati, one of the accused, owned far less land than claimed. An FIR has been lodged, and police are actively investigating.
