Kuwait Vows Swift Action After Fire Claims Lives of 49 Migrant Workers

Kuwaiti authorities have identified the bodies of 45 Indians and three Filipinos among the 49 foreign workers killed in a tragic fire incident in Mangaf. The Gulf Kingdom is committed to quickly investigating the incident and supporting the repatriation of victims' remains, as stated by officials on Thursday.
The fire on Wednesday at a seven-storey building housing 196 migrant workers also injured 50 others. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized the ongoing identification efforts and assured that one body is yet to be identified.
DNA testing is being conducted, and an Indian Air Force aircraft is ready to repatriate Indian victims. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, present in Kuwait to assist and oversee repatriation, received full support from Kuwaiti authorities. Kuwait’s Emir has issued financial aid directives for the families and ordered military preparation for body repatriation.
