Mangaluru Construction Tragedy: FIR Filed and Compensation Announced

Mangaluru Police have lodged an FIR against three individuals following a fatal construction site accident that resulted in the death of a worker. The deceased's family will receive Rs 2 lakh from the contractor and additional compensation sanctioned by the Construction Workers Welfare Board. Investigations are ongoing.

Mangaluru Police have filed an FIR against three persons in connection with a tragic accident at a construction site that claimed the life of a worker, officials stated on Friday.

The FIR targets contractor Venugopal and two others. The incident occurred on Wednesday, resulting in the death of Chandan Kumar, a labourer, in a mudslide while another worker was injured.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Aggarwal disclosed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has sanctioned a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to Chandan Kumar's family. The contractor has also agreed to pay an additional Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased. Labour department officials confirmed that the workers' families would receive insurance under the Labour Compensation Act.
