The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing of petitions seeking the cancellation, re-test, and an investigation into alleged malpractices in NEET-UG 2024 until July 18. The Centre and the National Testing Agency's (NTA) responses are still pending for some parties.
Separate affidavits were filed on Wednesday by both the Centre and the NTA, but counsel for some petitioners have not yet received them. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, asserted they had served their affidavit to the counsel for all parties. Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud has scheduled further hearings for Thursday, July 18.
During the session, petitioners’ counsel requested a hearing on July 15, but Mehta indicated his unavailability. The court acknowledged a status report from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on progress in probing the alleged NEET-UG 2024 irregularities. An additional affidavit by the Centre, citing IIT Madras's data analytics, found no evidence of mass malpractice.
