In a shocking incident, five individuals were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 30-year-old woman in Odisha's Ganjam district, police officials reported on Thursday.

The incident took place on Tuesday night near Khairapalli, under the jurisdiction of Kabisurya Nagar Police Station. According to a senior officer, the accused assaulted and gang-raped the woman over a monetary dispute.

Ganjam Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagmohan Meena confirmed the arrests and stated that the woman, who was rescued by police personnel, is currently undergoing medical treatment. Preliminary inquiries suggest the dispute was connected to the ganja trade, involving both the victim and the accused. Further investigation is underway, with the involvement of a woman DSP to talk to the victim.
