In a harrowing incident in Maharashtra, police have detained three men, one of whom is a senior citizen, for the alleged rape and murder of a 30-year-old woman. The crime took place when the victim visited a temple alone in Thane district, authorities reported.

The victim had gone to the temple on July 6, and her lifeless body was discovered three days later on the hillock. The accused, identified as Santosh Mishra (45), Rajkumar Pandey (54), and Shyamsundar Sharma (62), reportedly confessed to their gruesome actions after initial conflicting statements.

An investigation revealed that the woman had first visited a nearby eatery before heading towards the temple. CCTV footage captured her ascent but not her descent. The accused allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted, and pushed her to death. Their court-produced confession and an autopsy confirmed the crime.
