A suspected serial killer has been arrested in Kenya following the discovery of several bodies at a quarry in Nairobi. Police said on Monday that the individual, Collins Jumaisi, has confessed to killing 42 women, including his wife.

The acting head of police, Douglas Kanja Kirocho, revealed that nine bodies had been recovered from the quarry so far. Amin Mohamed, head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, described Jumaisi as a 'psychopathic serial killer' with no respect for human life.

Jumaisi's killing spree dates back to 2022, starting with his wife, with the most recent murder occurring on July 11. Police found numerous items in his home, including mobile phones, identity cards, a machete, industrial rubber gloves, rolls of sellotape, and nylon sacks similar to those containing the victims' remains. A large crowd gathered to witness the recovery of the dismembered remains over the weekend.

Many residents believe the bodies are connected to alleged abductions by security forces during recent protests, though police have not confirmed any link. The government is currently working to identify the deceased.

Earlier this month, President William Ruto called the reports of state-led abductions 'regrettable' and stated that any responsible officers would be held accountable. Kenya's police chief Japhet Koome resigned on Friday amid the escalating situation.
