Haryana Government Challenges High Court Order to Remove Barricades at Shambhu Border
The Haryana government has approached the Supreme Court to challenge a high court order mandating the removal of barricades at the Shambhu border near Ambala. The barricades were set up in response to farmers' protests demanding a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops. The Supreme Court had previously questioned the authority of the state to block highways.

The Haryana government has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, contesting a high court ruling that ordered the removal of barricades at the Shambhu border near Ambala within a week. The barricades have been in place since February 13, when farmers began their protests.
Filing through advocate Akshay Amritanshu, the state cited law and order concerns as the reason for the blockade. On July 12, the top court questioned Haryana's authority to block the highway while asking the government to remove the barricades.
Set up in February on the Ambala-New Delhi national highway, the barricades followed the announcement of a farmers' march to Delhi by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. The march was in support of several demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops.
