Tributes Pour in for Fallen Darjeeling Army Officer

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Darjeeling MP Raju Bista offered condolences following the death of Captain Brijesh Thapa. Thapa, a Darjeeling native, was killed in a gunfight with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. Thapa, aged 27, was the son of retired Colonel Bhuwanesh K Thapa.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday condoled the death of Captain Brijesh Thapa, a native of Darjeeling, who was killed in a gunfight with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district.

Darjeeling MP Raju Bista also offered his condolences for Thapa and three other Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives fighting heavily armed terrorists.

In her message on the X platform, Banerjee expressed sorrow over Thapa’s sacrifice, highlighting his bravery and dedication to duty.

Captain Thapa, only 27 years old, was the son of retired Colonel Bhuwanesh K Thapa, a resident of Jing Tea Estate in Darjeeling.

MP Bista added that Thapa has joined the ranks of immortal Indians who have given the ultimate sacrifice while serving the nation.

He extended his thoughts and prayers to the grieving family of Col Bhuwanesh K Thapa (Retd).
