AIADMK Leader Vijayabhaskar Arrested in Land Grabbing Case

M R Vijayabhaskar, former Transport Minister in the AIADMK regime, was arrested by CBCID in Kerala over a land grabbing case involving Rs 100 crore. M R Vijayabhaskar, the former Transport Minister during the AIADMK regime, was apprehended by CBCID officers in Kerala on Tuesday. He faces accusations of illegally acquiring land worth about Rs 100 crore, police sources confirmed.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami condemned the arrest, labeling it as a 'civil' dispute and highlighting what he perceives as a 'political vendetta.' He expressed confidence that Vijayabhaskar would be vindicated in the legal proceedings.

According to law enforcement, the former minister and AIADMK leader was apprehended in Kerala before being transported to Tamil Nadu. The charges include alleged document forgery intended to usurp around 22 acres of land, valued at Rs 100 crore. A businessman from Karur and a sub-registrar reported the case, prompting police investigations and subsequent arrest following the rejection of Vijayabhaskar's anticipatory bail petition. Recently, CBCID conducted searches at locations in Chennai and Karur linked to him.
