A marijuana convict in Zambia caused laughter in court by asking to be deported to Jamaica where he can freely smoke his weed.

The 28-year old John Mwamba who hails from Chipata has been sentenced to six months of imprisonment for trafficking in 1.1 grams of Marijuana. He claimed at the court that it was to be utilized for medicinal purposes. The young man admitted the charge after being red-handedly caught with 1.1 grams of Marijuana.

He also expressed sadness that he has been given imprisonment for smoking weed when it can be freely taken in other nations, Zambia Reports noted. However, he was questioned by the Court if he was aware that trafficking in narcotic substances without lawful authority is illegal in the country to which he responded in the affirmative.

"Your Honour I know that smoking Marijuana is illegal in Zambia but please take me to a country like Jamaica where I will freely be smoking the substance as I see nothing wrong with it, I only use it for medicinal purposes," he said that made everyone laugh at the Court.
