Israel's Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, declared on Saturday that the nation launched a strike on the Houthi forces in Yemen. This action was a direct response to an attack that injured an Israeli citizen.
The fire in Hodeidah sends a clear message across the Middle East, Gallant emphasized in his statement. He highlighted that the Houthis had attacked Israel over 200 times, but it was the first time an Israeli citizen suffered harm that prompted this intense retaliation.
Last Friday, the Houthi militia claimed responsibility for a drone attack using an Iranian-made long-range device. The attack struck central Tel Aviv, resulting in one fatality and four injuries.
