Tribunal Awards Rs 32.8 Lakh to Family of Deceased Scrap Dealer

A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in Thane, Maharashtra, has granted a compensation of Rs 32.8 lakh to the family of Javed Ghuru Alias Guru Khan, a scrap dealer who died in a road accident in 2017. The tribunal ordered the compensation to be paid by the tempo owner and New India Assurance Co. Ltd.

A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Maharashtra's Thane district has awarded Rs 32.8 lakh as compensation to the family of Javed Ghuru Alias Guru Khan, a scrap dealer killed in a 2017 road accident.

The MACT chairman S B Agrawal directed the offending vehicle's owner and New India Assurance Co. Ltd to jointly compensate the family with interest of 7.5% per annum from the date of the petition until the amount is realized.

Advocate S M Pawar, representing the petitioners, stated that Khan was riding his motorcycle on January 29, 2017, when he was fatally hit by a speeding tempo. The compensation covers loss of income, funeral expenses, and filial consortium, with portions of the amount allocated to fixed deposits for his immediate family members.
