Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Raping Minor in Jhalawar

A POCSO court in Jhalawar sentenced 23-year-old Khushilal to 20 years in prison for raping a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place a year ago in Pedawa village. The court also fined him Rs 50,000. The case came to light when the victim's parents reported the crime.

A POCSO court in Jhalawar on Wednesday handed down a 20-year prison sentence to 23-year-old Khushilal for the rape of a 15-year-old girl last year.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Khushilal after finding him guilty of the crime, which took place in a village within Pedawa police station limits. According to Public Prosecutor Ramhetar Gurjar, the matter surfaced on January 1, 2023, when the girl came home in blood-stained clothes, leading her parents to file a complaint.

The victim had gone to buy milk when Khushilal dragged her into a mustard field and raped her. He also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident, Gurjar said. Following an investigation and medical examination, police arrested Khushilal the next day, and he has since been in judicial custody.
