Leicester Activist Majid Freeman Faces Terrorism Charges Post Misinformation Scandal

Majid Freeman, a 36-year-old community activist from Leicester, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court in London, charged with terrorism offenses unrelated to earlier allegations of disseminating misinformation during Hindu-Muslim unrest in the city.

Freeman, whose supporters demonstrated outside the court waving Palestinian flags, faces accusations of encouraging terrorism and supporting Hamas, a proscribed organization in the UK. He was released on conditional bail prohibiting him from posting on social media.

The case has been transferred to the Central Criminal Court at the Old Bailey, set for a hearing on August 16. Freeman's previous allegations of violence by Hindus during Leicester unrest were found to lack evidence, according to a Henry Jackson Society report.
