Family Convicted in 2021 Dowry Death Case

A court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced three family members each to 10 years in jail over the 2021 dowry death of a young bride.
Suman, aged 19, was assaulted and killed by her husband Manoj Yadav, 23, and his parents, for failing to meet dowry demands on January 10, 2021, in Nichlaul district. This was confirmed by Additional District Government Advocate Sarveshwar Mani Tripathi.
Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Kumar Srivastava imposed the sentence, which includes a Rs 25,000 fine for each convict. Investigations revealed that Suman died from head injuries inflicted by her husband and his parents, as confirmed by the post-mortem report.
