Major Gubernatorial Appointments Announced Across India

President of India has announced a series of major gubernatorial appointments. Lakshman Prasad Acharya is now the governor of Assam and takes additional charge of Manipur. Gulab Chand Kataria replaces Banwarilal Purohit as the governor of Punjab. Other notable changes include new governors for Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, and more.

In a significant reshuffle, President Droupadi Murmu has announced several key gubernatorial appointments. Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been designated as the governor of Assam with additional responsibilities for Manipur. He replaces Gulab Chand Kataria, who is now appointed as the governor of Punjab, succeeding Banwarilal Purohit.

Additionally, Kataria will also serve as the administrator of Chandigarh. The President has formally accepted Purohit’s resignation from his previous roles. Other notable appointments include C P Radhakrishnan as the governor of Maharashtra and Santosh Kumar Gangwar as the new Jharkhand governor.

Further changes saw Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde taking over as the governor of Rajasthan, Jishnu Dev Varma for Telangana, and Om Prakash Mathur for Sikkim. Ramen Deka is appointed as the governor of Chhattisgarh while C H Vijayashankar will govern Meghalaya. Moreover, K Kailashnathan will assume the role of Lt Governor of Puducherry. All appointments will be effective from the day they assume their respective offices.
