Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday urged district commissioners (DCs) to transform their districts into administration fulcrums. This, he believes, will ease the disbursal of benefits.
In his opening remarks at the district commissioners' conference, Sarma emphasized capitalizing on each district's rich areas to contribute to state growth.
He revealed that new sub-districts will start functioning from October 2, with permanent office foundations laid on the same day. A state-level core team will support DCs in delegating work.
Sarma directed the DCs to monitor government building constructions in their jurisdictions and expedite work on health, education, and anganwadi centers. He also set August 12 as the deadline for distributing flood rehabilitation grants.
The officers were instructed to hold regular meetings with guardian ministers and simplify government functions, serving only vegetarian food. For CM visits, motorcades are to be limited to 10 vehicles.
Sarma congratulated the DCs on the successful 2024 Lok Sabha elections and will review welfare projects with ministers and senior officials during the two-day conference.
